The third edition of European Mission Soil Week (EMSW) successfully concluded on 6 November 2025 at Aarhus University, Denmark, marking another milestone in efforts to advance soil health, sustainable land use, and climate-smart agriculture across Europe.
Organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development, the Danish Ministry of Green Transition, and Aarhus University, and under the auspices of the Danish Presidency of the Council of the EU, EMSW 2025 brought together the European soil community for two days of high-level discussions, knowledge sharing, and stakeholder engagement.
This year’s edition highlighted the urgency of mobilising public and private capital for soil health. With more than 50 expert speakers the event explored innovative business models, financing mechanisms, and investment opportunities that can accelerate the adoption of sustainable practices in agriculture, forestry, and land management.
The conference attracted around 300 in-person participants and 900 online viewers, creating a vibrant forum for researchers, policymakers, land managers, civil society actors, farmers, foresters, and industry representatives from across Europe.
Fifteen Mission-funded projects presented their latest advances, including circular economy solutions, carbon farming, biodiversity, pollution remediation, soil data, and citizen engagement initiatives.
